Perseus Makes Waves in Down Week
Buy of Physicians Interactive, e-marketer, from Allscripts Healthcare Solutions is its second move in a shaky environment this week.

Physicians Interactive, an e-marketing firm for pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies, has been acquired by a fund run by merchant bank and private equity firm Perseus.
Perseus made the buy from Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, with which Physicians Interactive will maintain a two-year co-development period that will have the former owner and its old property sharing business products and services and e-prescription solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Physicians Interactive has been a pioneer in identifying and creating alternative channels of communication that create real value for our pharmaceutical clients and for the customers they serve,” said Donato Tramuto, who has led Physicians Interactive for 18 months and will continue a leadership role there. “With additional investment capital from Perseus, we will be able to further expand our portfolio of product and service offerings in a way that helps to create an unmatched market position for our clients.”
Tramuto will also serve as chief executive and vice chairman of Perseus Acquisition Holdings and will have a board seat. Other execs with Physicians Interactive will remain with the organization.
