Former Tyco Exec Jumps To Dechert
William Lytton, Tycos former chief legal officer and a former counselor to Ronald Reagan, has joined Dechert.

William B. Lytton, a former executive vice president and chief legal officer of Tyco International Ltd and former deputy special counselor to Ronald Reagan, joined Dechert LLP as senior counsel.
In September 2002, Lytton joined Tyco as part of a sweep of new management that was brought in to resolve issues stemming from allegations of misconduct by Tycos former management team and multiple government investigations and civil litigation. He retired from Tyco in July 2007, following the companys noted turnaround efforts and subsequent spin-off of two subsidiaries of the company.
Lytton also acted in the capacity of deputy special counselor to President Ronald Reagan and special counsel to President George H.W. Bush, addressing issues relating to the Iran-Contra matter for both presidents.
In his new position, Lytton will work out of the firms New York office, addressing corporate governance and corporate investigations issues.
He said, I have had the privilege of knowing and working with many of Decherts lawyers for over 20 years. I know them and the firm to be an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to serving their clients and helping them avoid - and where necessary solve problems.
Previously, Lytton was senior vice president and general counsel for International Paper. Prior to joining International Paper in 1996, he was vice president and associate general counsel for Lockheed Martin Corp.s electronics sector. He was also the American Corporate Counsel Associations chairman of the board of directors in 2002.
Before joining the private sector, Lytton held a number of district attorney positions, including first assistant U.S. attorney in the eastern district of Pennsylvania.
Dechert is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and employs over 1,000 attorneys internationally. Last month, bankruptcy expert Shmuel Vasser was hired as a partner in Decherts business restructuring team, just two months asfter he joined Nixon Peabody.
