Needham Nabs Former Lazard Head
Peter Bennett will head Needham’s private placement group.

Peter Bennett has joined Needham & Co. as head of the private placement group.
Previously, Bennett was a partner at Consumer Growth Partners, a private equity firm located in Kansas City, Missouri and White Plains, New York.
In his new position, Bennett will report to John Prior, president and chief executive officer of Needham. Of Bennett’s hire, Prior said, “Peter is a talented professional with private placement experience that fits perfectly into our areas of expertise. We're delighted to have him leading our private placement efforts," said Mr. Prior. "We look forward to growing this business under Peter's direction.”
Prior to his position at Consumer Growth Partners, Bennett was head of the private placement practices at Lazard Middle Market, Piper Jaffray and Deutsche Bank. He was also a senior private placement banker at Lehman Brothers and at Chase Securities.
In April, Andrew Malik was named chairman of Needham & Company and a member of the executive committee of The Needham Group. The Needham Group was founded in 2004.
