Cowen Hires Merrill MD
Matthew Schultz will lead technology investment banking group.

Matthew J. Schultz, a former managing director at Merrill Lynch has joined Cowen Group's technology investment banking group.
While Schultz was at Merrill Lynch, he was the head of internet and digital media investment banking. In this position, he took several high-profile e-commerce businesses public, including Blue Nile, FTD, and eHealth. He also advised on strategic acquisitions, including the much-assailed acquisition of Skype by eBay.
In his new position, as managing director and head of internet banking, Schultz will be based in Cowens San Francisco office and he will report to David Ketsdever.
Ketsdever, head of technology investment banking at Cowan, said of Schultzs appointment, I am pleased to welcome such a veteran banker to the firm. We look forward to the contributions that he will make to the continued success of our technology franchise.
Schultz was also a member of Merrills semiconductor investment banking team.
In June, Cowen announced that chairman Kim S. Fennebresque would step down. John E. Toffolon, Jr. was voted in as a replacement for the position of non-executive chairman of the board.
