American Capital Bolsters Sponsor Coverage
The BDC brought in veterans from Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers to oversee its PE coverage in Chicago and on the West Coast.

American Capital Strategies hired Joseph Romic and Bradley Nii, installing the pair as heads of the firms sponsor finance practices in Chicago and on the West Coast, respectively.
Romic is joining American Capital from Goldman Sachs, where he was a director in its specialty lending group. Prior to his four-year stint there, he was a senior vice president in the global sponsor finance group of General Electric Commercial Finance. He also spent ten years with Heller Financial before it was acquired by GE in 2001.
Nii, meanwhile, was previously a senior vice president in Lehman Brothers investment banking group, working out of Los Angeles with a focus on financial sponsors. Nii had also served as a vice president in Lehmans M&A group in New York, and from 1987 to 1996 had worked at Ernst & Young.
American Capitals sponsor finance practice works with PE firms, providing senior debt, stand-alone second lien and subordinated debt, and equity co-investments in support of private equity activity. The group is made up of roughly 60 professionals located throughout 12 offices worldwide.
