While I've never taken a poll to prove it, I think most of us would agree that, by and large, the M&A community is an optimistic bunch. Sometimes, in fact, they're downright idealistic, like when a sponsor pays 17 times for a company and justifies the price with a model that forecasts a 20% IRR within three years.
